It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a member of our GVXC family this past weekend. Kristoffer Larsen – Class of 2012, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 27th while visiting family in Norway.
As the Web Administrator of this site, I have the unique opportunity to communicate directly with the viewers.
The ‘Magis Miles’ is a night of one-mile races on the track at Saint Ignatius College Prep in the heart of downtown Chicago. Last year, the meet welcomed over 150 athletes of varied ages and abilities. The night began with races of top middle schoolers, moved to elite high school races, and culminated with an elite collegiate and post-collegiate mile.
Last year’s meet saw Polish elite runner Greg Kalinowski take down an all-star men’s mile in 4:04. In the elite women’s field, former Wisconsin Parkside standout Jessica Watychowicz emerged victorious with a 4:53 mile.The elite high school boy’s race was won by Sean Torpy of Sandburg and the elite girl’s mile was won by Brooke Wilson of Prospect. The boys’ high school team competition was won handily by the Phoenix of Lincoln Way North.
With music playing through every race, IHSA State Meet announcer Billy Poole Harris as the energetic announcer, and the meet streaming live to thousands on the Wolfpack Sports network, fans and athletes alike remarked at how memorable the meet was.
