Another quality weekend for GVXC

2015-10-03 M. Altmayer2Geneva competed in the St. Charles North Invitational on October 3, 2015.  Highlight was McKenzie Altmayer winning the Girls Varsity race and setting the new LeRoy Oakes course record.  Girls Varsity finished 4th out of 21 teams and the Boys Varsity finished 6th out of 26 teams.  Videos of the races are here.

Check out the Newspaper articles about the meet.

Both Varsity teams are competing in the Nike Northside / Southside Challenge on Wednesday.  It should be fun!

New Cross Country Course at LeRoy Oakes

We will be running on a new course at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve this Saturday for the St. Charles North Invitational.  This new course will also be used for the IHSA Regional meet on 10/24/2015.  Here is the new course map.  It can also be access from the main Meet Schedule.

We’re going to need a great day on Saturday as the competition will be tough. There are 6 state ranked boys teams ahead of us in this meet and 4-5 girls teams.  Good luck to all!!

The Sectional Ranking pages have been updated for 9/29/15 (Boys & Girls)

Success at the Richard Spring Invitational

Great job at the Richard Spring Invitational!  The Girls Varsity team took 8th place out of 69 teams and the Boys Varsity took 11th place out of 67 teams.  Girls Frosh/Soph took 13th out of 47 and the Boys Frosh/Soph took 21st out of 50.

Both Boys and Girls teams made it onto the Top-25 Team Ranking for the State this week.  DyeStat IL mentioned the Geneva Boys in their commentary:

Geneva got the final nod based off of their 11th place Peoria finish. The Vikings could also be tough in the Upstate Eight behind the 15:14.9 run by Tyler Dau and the 38 second 5 man split off of him.

We have added two new pages beneath ‘Schedules/Results’ to track the Sectional Rankings each week:  (Boys and Girls).  Only the top five teams in the Sectional advance to State.  Currently, the Boys are in 6th and the Girls are in 4th.  Keep up the hard work!!

2015 Richard Spring Invitational Preview

Box Assignments are out for the races.  Geneva Boys are in Box 22 out of 70 boxes, and Geneva Girls are in Box 19 our of 69.

DyeStat IL mentions the Geneva Girls in a recent article:

“#18 Geneva has a solid 1-2 punch up front with McKenzie Altmayer and Sophia McDonnell. Both runners could be in the top 15 in this race. Chances are good that Altmayer could be under 17 in this race especially after running 17:38 at Wauconda in her last meet. The Vikings split was over 2 minutes at the Wauconda meet. That needs to be lower if they want to finish among the top teams.”

Recent ‘Facelift’ to the GVXC website…

Since you are reading this update, you have probably already noticed a couple of changes to the site:

  • We added a somewhat static front page that provides a few photos and a high level description of the site navigation.
  • We added a new ‘Updates’ tab that will include the most recent updates, posts, last minute information…  This is the the place you want to check on a regular basis in order to stay up to date with GVXC.  The most recent posts will always be sorted to the top of the page.  (by the way, you are reading the new ‘Update’ page right now).
  • The Twitter feed was relocated to its own page beneath ‘Media’.
